A senior aide to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday that he is leaving the Trump administration after approximately a year at the Pentagon. Ron Moeller, deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategic readiness, said in a post on X that he had always intended to serve in the position for about one year. Moeller was sworn into the role last August and indicated that his departure was consistent with that original timeline.
